What is Natural Human-Type Ceramide?

In a previous blog, we explored the importance of ceramides for skin health. Did you know there are various types of ceramides? Our products contain natural human-type ceramides, which many of our customers have found to be highly effective. This time, let's take a closer look at how our natural human-type ceramides differ from other ceramides and why they are effective.

What is Natural Human-Type Ceramide?

As explained in the previous blog, ceramides are essential for forming the skin barrier function, which protects your skin from external stimuli and moisture loss. However, ceramide levels decrease as we age, making it important to incorporate ceramide into your daily skincare routine. There are several types of ceramides, and those commonly found in cosmetics can be divided into four major types: natural ceramides, plant-derived ceramides, human-type ceramides, and synthetic ceramides.

Natural Ceramides:
Ceramides are derived from mammals and have a structure similar to human skin.

Plant-Derived Ceramides:
Extracted from sources like rice bran or citrus fruits, they have a slightly different structure from human skin ceramides, leading to lower penetration ability compared to natural or human-type ceramides.

Human-Type Ceramides:
It has a structure similar to ceramides found in human skin and is known to be more compatible with the skin.

Synthetic Ceramides:
Chemically synthesized ceramides resembling natural ones.

Traditional plant-derived ceramides do not match the human type, and even though synthetic ceramides can be human-type, they are manufactured and cannot be considered natural ingredients. Our ceramides, however, are the world’s first to be purified from natural Japanese soy sauce lees. Additionally, since they are made from recycled resources, they are environmentally friendly and have received various awards for their sustainability. These ceramides, being both natural and human-type, integrate seamlessly with the skin, maximizing their effectiveness. With these properties, our ceramides are the ideal ingredients for maintaining healthy skin and enhancing skin barrier function.

Effects of Our Ceramides

Now, let’s delve into the effects of our natural human-type ceramides, backed by clinical trial results.

・Improvement of Atopic Dermatitis & Redness
Atopic dermatitis and redness are often caused by dryness, so it is important to keep the skin sufficiently moisturized. Natural human-type ceramides enhance skin hydration and reduce inflammation and itchiness by preventing dryness. Furthermore, strengthening skin barrier function helps shield the skin from external stimuli and allergens, contributing to the prevention of these conditions.

・Reduction of Visible Pores
Dry skin can lead to excessive sebum production, which clogs pores and makes them more noticeable. However, skin enriched with ceramides maintains moisture and balances sebum production. Adequate moisture retention also makes the skin more supple, helping to tighten pores and reduce their visibility.

・Improvement of Dark Spots
Dark spots form when melanin is overproduced and accumulates to protect the skin from UV radiation. Natural human-type ceramides enhance skin turnover through moisturization, helping to discharge melanin and lighten existing dark spots.  Additionally, by strengthening the skin barrier, ceramides protect the skin from UV rays and minimize the damage that leads to dark spots.

Among these numerous options, natural human-type ceramides stand out for their remarkable ability to penetrate deep into the skin, replenishing essential moisture and supporting the formation of a healthy barrier. This capability addresses the root causes of various skin issues, leading to significant improvements. With their proven effectiveness and sustainable origins, our ceramides not only represent the ideal skincare ingredient but also offer a comprehensive approach to nurturing and revitalizing the skin, promoting its overall health and vitality.
